We are pleased to announce the winners of an essay competition held in collaboration with the GFBR 2024 local co-host, the Universiti Malaya, and the Southeast Asia Bioethics Network.
The purpose of the competition was to encourage students to engage in this year’s GFBR topic and to think critically about ethical issues associated with research into health and climate change. Specifically, the essays focused on the role of ethics in guiding Malaysian policy makers and researchers in this area.
The competition was open to all full-time and part-time university students who are currently registered with any university in Malaysia and there were two categories of submission. The winners are:
Undergraduate category
1st prize: Denson Bin Jodar
2nd prize: Tan Wen Hui
Postgraduate category
1st prize: Veeranarasimman a/l Ravendran
2nd prize: Nur Nisa Qarin Binti Shahinuddin
The winners receive complimentary registration to attend GFBR on 19 & 20 November 2024 in Kuala Lumpur and prize money awarded by the Southeast Asia Bioethics Network. Ist prize winners also have the option to have their essays published on the GFBR website. We are happy to share Denson Bin Jodar’s winning essay here.
